Hall County Schools held its third annual Tool Expo Wednesday at the Chicopee Agricultural Center in Gainesville.

65 vendors from various tool and construction companies were in attendance at the event, which ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. During that time, they met with students to discuss career opportunities.

“[Vendors] are here with one purpose in mind, and that is to expose our young people,” Superintendent Will Schofield said in a video. “We've literally got hundreds of students coming through here today that are being exposed to the absolutely incredible fields of future occupation that there are in the construction industry. So I'm just so excited.”

Students were able to test out different construction tools and machinery, even having the chance to control a small backhoe under the supervision of trained professionals.

“We’ve got kids down here talking to tool manufacturers, talking to machinery and heavy equipment manufacturers, talking to contractors themselves,” Schofield said. “And once again, our job as your school district is to expose these young people to potential careers.”

Some of the manufacturers that were present at the event include Ram Tool, Milwaukee, GearWrench, DeWalt, Hilti, Crescent, Werner and Channellock. The Hall County Sherriff's Office was also present and shared details about the daily lives of county officers. They also showcased some of the equipment they use.

Lanier College Career Academy helped host the event, with major support from the business community in Hall County.
