A struggle between two men Saturday left one of them with a gunshot wound in his foot after an argument in a driveway of a Hall County residence.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a gunshot and sounds of arguing in the 3500 block of Baker Road. Once on scene, deputies were reportedly waved down by a man, 38, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his foot.

A suspect was quickly identified as Isnardo Ropero Gonzalez, 45, of Gainesville. Both Gonzalez and a third man approached deputies on foot from the roadway, according to officials.

Initial investigations report Gonzalez had been driving a vehicle with the victim and three other passengers. Gonzalez wrecked the car on Baker Road, then continued driving toward his own residence, which was also on Baker Road. Once the men arrived at Gonzalez’s home, an argument broke out, which led to Gonzalez brandishing a gun. A struggle ensued and Gonzalez reportedly shot the victim in the foot, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth.

The remaining three passengers originally in the vehicle all ran away from the scene on foot. Investigators on the case believe alcohol played a role in the incident.

Hall County Fire Rescue transported the victim to the hospital for treatment and Gonzalez was allegedly charged with three counts of aggravated assault and duty to stop at an accident.

Gonzalez was detained in the Hall County jail without bond as of last report.
