Gainesville man arrested, charged with fentanyl trafficking

A Gainesville man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a 911 call where the caller heard screaming coming from a nearby church parking lot on Garden Drive.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call just after midnight involving reports of screaming and yelling coming from a church parking lot on Garden Drive in Gainesville.

Once deputies arrived, they found a man later identified as Brandon Lamont Butler, 39, of Gainesville, according to HCSO spokeswoman B.J. Williams. In the process of the investigation, Butler was allegedly found to be in possession of four grams of fentanyl, a bottle of hydrocodone prescribed to someone other than Butler and under an ounce of marijuana.

Butler was arrested and taken to the Hall County Jail, where he remained as of the last report.

Butler was allegedly charged with fentanyl trafficking, a felony, drugs not in original container, a misdemeanor and marijuana possession, a misdemeanor.
