The man accused of shooting another man while driving on Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville on July 4 turned himself in to authorities Monday afternoon.
According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Emcee Dante Weaver, 28, was booked at the Hall County Jail at about 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Weaver was previously accused of shooting from one vehicle into another at about 3:30 p.m. on July 4 on Dawsonville Highway near McEver Road during a dispute with another man. Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook previously told AccessWDUN the two men knew each other and they believe the two were possibly having a dispute over a woman at the time of the shooting.
Holbrook said the victim was in a rideshare vehicle when the suspect allegedly shot into the rear window, striking him.
The man was shot in the shoulder and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville. He was later treated and released.
"We're very fortunate in this incident that there were no others that were hit or struck as this was a busy time and this is one of the busier intersections in Gainesville," Holbrook said.
Weaver was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and reckless conduct.
