A Gainesville man is now facing felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly strangling two baby chickens following an investigation into a domestic incident Monday.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic call at a residence on Pleasant Circle after receiving reports of a man behaving “in a violent manner,” spokesman B.J. Williams said. Hector Daniel Pascual, 18, of Gainesville was initially taken into custody for a probation violation. He was later charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

Police discovered two dead baby chickens at the scene, both of which were said to have been strangled by Pascual, according to witness reports.

The incident occurred between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Pascual remains in the Hall County Jail as of the last report.
