Flowery Branch man arrested following warrant for child molestation

A Flowery Branch man was arrested Thursday on a warrant for child molestation after Hall County authorities received disclosure from the victim’s family.

Omar Resendiz-Lira, 35, of Flowery Branch was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in the 4600 block of Hog Mountain Road. He has been charged with felony child molestation and misdemeanor third-degree cruelty to children, according to Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth.

The initial investigation indicated Resendiz-Lira committed the alleged crimes at a home in the 5500 block of Oakfern Court between July 29 and July 30. In that timespan, Resendiz-Lira reportedly molested a male victim under the age of 16 in the presence of a female child who was also under the age of 16.

A family member of the victims reported the incident to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office on the evening of July 30 after the victims disclosed the incident.

Deputies have arrested Resendiz-Lira and transported him to the Hall County Jail, where he remains without bond as of Friday morning.
