A structure fire in Banks County Monday morning left a home damaged, but luckily no one was injured in the blaze.

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded at approximately 10:35 a.m. to reports of a structure fire at 116 Highway 323 in Maysville. Upon arrival, responders found a single-family home with smoke showing from the structure.

Crews were reportedly able to quickly locate the fire inside the home and get it under control, but the home did sustain moderate damage, according to Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

On Scene services were requested to assist the family. The cause of the fire is currently labeled as “suspicious,” and is under investigation by the Banks County Fire and Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with the Georgia State Fire Marshalls Office.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported, and crews were able to wrap up their response just after 2 p.m.
