Qualifying period ends in Hall County ahead of November municipal elections

Candidates in Hall County’s municipalities qualified this week for seats on various boards and councils ahead of the November municipal elections.

The most contested seat in the county is Flowery Branch’s City Council Post 2 seat, which is currently held by Joe Mezzanotte. Mezzanotte will face opposition from three other candidates this November: Charles Vanderbilt, Kyle Gomez-Leineweber and Christian Danele Mays.

Elsewhere in the region, the City of Lula will see two contested races, with City Council District 4 Representative James Garnett Smith running against challenger Ray Hall. Additionally, Juliette Talley and Joseph Michael Headrick will face each other for a currently vacant City Council District 5 seat.

Election day is set for Tuesday, November 7. The first day of early in-person voting is October 16.
