BUFORD, Ga. – East Forsyth opened up the 2023 season with a big 44-20 win over Seckinger Friday night.
Starting with the football, the Broncos got going quickly with Gus Martin scoring for the first of three times on a 53-yard sprint to give East Forsyth a 7-0 lead. Seckinger answered with a near eight-minute long drive that was capped by a touchdown to tie the game, but the Broncos answered with a safety to take a 9-7 lead and never looked back.
The margin was pushed out to 23-7 on a run by Troy Hoover that pushed the lead to 23-7. Quarterback Brock Szackacs later linked up with Will Moffitt for a passing score to further extend the lead.
Martin finished with two more touchdowns of 23 yards and a single yard.
Defensively, the Broncos got three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Titus D'arcangelo had a pick-six, while Hoover also had one of the three interceptions on the night.
The Broncos open region play next week as they play host to Cedar Shoals.
