TOCCOA, Ga. – An impressive showing on the defensive side of the football, coupled with offensive explosions, gave Stephens County a 35-0 win over Rabun County Friday night at The Reservation.
The shutout marked the first time since 2013 that Rabun County failed to score and snapped a five-game winning streak against Stephens County, dating back to the Indians' last win in the series all the way back in 1959.
Neither team found the endzone in the first quarter, but Stephens County opened it up early in the second as Tripp Underwood found Davon Swinton for a 33-yard passing score to take a 7-0 lead. Eight minutes later, Underwood connected with Devin Cobb for a 21-yard pitch-and-catch to double the lead.
It took nearly the entire third quarter before the Indians could break through again, but Omari Feaster ran away at the 3:12 mark for an 82-yard touchdown before Javin Gordon scored for three yards out early in the fourth.
Stephens County will be at Flowery Branch next Friday, while Rabun County will head to Adairsville.
