Green Street in Gainesville has been re-opened after being shut down for around 30 minutes while police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday afternoon.

Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said police were called to the scene at the John W. Jacobs Building at Brenau University at around 12:30 p.m.

"It appears that an individual had left a package on the backside of a vehicle," Holbrook said. "At some point, someone made some concerning remarks regarding that package to an individual. That individual contacted 911, which set forth this investigation."

Holbrook said detection dogs and bomb technicians did not find any explosive device at the scene and Green Street was quickly re-opened. He said the case is still under investigation.
