If the playoffs started today, Cherokee Bluff would be the overall No. 2 seed in the Class 3A playoffs.
However, the playoffs don't start today, and the Bears have two tough games remaining with Jefferson and Oconee County. If the Bears win those two games and win out, they could be smelling the overall No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
Currently, Bluff (7-0, .670 PSR) is No. 2 -- up one spot from last week -- in the latest Georgia High School Association Class 3A Playoff Rankings released Tuesday morning. Sandy Creek remains at the top of the Class 3A playoff rankings with a .713 PSR.
Jefferson (6-2, .654 PSR) moved up two spots to No. 3, while North Hall (5-2, .587 PSR) moved up five spots to No. 11. Oconee County, who Cherokee Bluff plays on Thursday in Watkinsville, Ga., is 17th. Lumpkin County (5-2, .548 PSR) dropped five spots to No. 20
In Class 2A, East Jackson (4-3, .526 PSR) is the highest-ranked area team, moving up two spots to 19th. Union County (3-4, .499 PSR) also moved up from 25th to 24th.
In Class A Division 1, Commerce (4-3, .575 PSR) is currently 18th. However, taking the private schools out of the rankings, Commerce would be No. 11. Rabun County (6-2, .547 PSR) is No. 23 but is the 16th highest-ranked public school.
The GHSA will use the playoff rankings to seed the playoffs this season in Class A, Division 1 through Class 3A.
