An arrest was made in connection to a residential burglary in Habersham County.

The burglary reportedly occurred around 10 a.m. Wednesday and deputies were called to a home near New Liberty Road.

Officers responded and discovered that the home had obvious signs of forced entry.

They also deemed that the suspect had already left the area.

After that, another Habersham County deputy noticed a Ford Ranger parked in a “suspicious manner” on the northern end of New Liberty Road, with a white male outside the vehicle.

The officer attempted to speak to him, but the man re-entered his vehicle and fled the scene, according to officials.

Deputies located and pulled the vehicle over later for further investigation.

Habersham officials report that deputies were able to “visually observe particular articles relating to the crime.”

The officers identified the driver of the truck as 34-year-old Dusty Everett Banfield, who they learned had an active warrant for his arrest.

Banfield was placed under arrest for the active warrant and also detained for the burglary investigation that had just been reported.

Officials determined that there was probable cause to link Banfield to the burglary and after making the arrest, he was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center and the stolen property was recovered from the vehicle and transported to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigative Division for evidence.

34-year-old Dusty Everett Banfield was arrested in connection to a residential burglary on Wednesday in Habersham County.
