One person taken to hospital after fire at Fieldale Farms feed mill in Baldwin

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, a commercial structure fire in Baldwin at Fieldale Farms resulted in one person being transported for treatment.

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the multi-story facility with smoke showing from the fourth floor.

The fire was contained to the original floor and did minor damage to the facility.

An employee was treated and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center suffering from possible smoke inhalation according to officials.

He was listed by Banks County EMS as being in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is listed as accidental from a machine’s bearing failing during production.

One person was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville on Friday after a fire at the Fieldale Farms feed mill in Baldwin.

Habersham County spokesman Rob Moore said Habersham County Emergency Services and Banks County Fire and EMS responded to an equipment motor fire just before 5:30 p.m.

Moore said the feed mill resumed operations at around 8 p.m.

Units from Banks County Fire and EMS, Habersham County Emergency Services, Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department, Baldwin Fire Department, and Jackson County Correctional Institute Fire Department work at the scene of Friday’s fire.
