Man arrested in Towns County on aggravated sexual battery charges

A Young Harris man remains in the Towns County Detention Center without bond after he allegedly committed aggravated sexual battery against a 16 year-old victim. 

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Oct. 20 that Dwight Lamont Holland, 36, allegedly sexually assaulted the victim at a residence in the area, according to a Facebook post from the agency. After probable cause was developed, the suspect was arrested by the Murphy North Carolina Police Department. Holland reportedly confessed to the crime during an interview with a Towns County Investigator. 

Holland has been charged with felony aggravated sexual battery and felony aggravated sodomy. 

The Union County Sheriff's Office aided in the investigation, according to TCSO. 

Dwight Lamont Holland, 36, faces charges of felony aggravated sexual battery and felony aggravated sodomy following an alleged incident that took place at a Towns County residence on Oct. 20.
