And it all comes down to Week 12.
Chestatee played back into the playoff hunt with the win over White County last week and the GAC loss to Pickens. The War Eagles host GAC in hopes of securing a playoff spot in Class 3A.
Meanwhile, Buford travels to Mill Creek, hoping to wrap up the Region 8-6A title and a No. 1 seed in the playoffs. However, if Mill Creek wins, that could create a three-way tie for first place, leaving it up to the tiebreaker.
In Region 8-4A, Flowery Branch will clinch a playoff spot with a win over Cedar Shoals. East Forsyth will take the No. 3 spot with a win over Madison County.
In Region 8-3A, Jefferson can wrap up the region title with a win over Oconee County.
Week 12 should be exciting, as several key region games are on the schedule, including three on the Jacobs Media airwaves and streaming live on AccessWDUN.com.
To follow scores and more this week, follow our Friday Game Night X for scores, stories and highlights.
Buford at Mill Creek — The two programs have split since the rivalry began in 2022. Mill Creek captured the win last season to win the region title. It's much of the same this season. However, if Wolves win, they capture the title outright. If Mill Creek wins and Collins Hill wins, there will be a three-way tie for first, leaving the title up for grabs via tiebreaker. Expect this one to be as good as the last two have been. However, the Wolves have been really good down the stretch. Will home-field advantage be the ingredient, again, for Mill Creek? The game can be heard live on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live).
GAC at Chestatee — It's pretty simple. Chestatee has to win to get in the playoffs. A few scenarios would lead us down the road of tiebreakers if other teams in the region also win, but we'll save that for another story. Chestatee is playing well right now. They beat Pickens two weeks ago and knocked off White County last week. GAC lost to Pickens last week, which makes this game even more intriguing. Can Chestatee keep the momentum going and clinch a playoff spot for the first time in almost a decade? We'll find out Friday night. The game can be heard live on FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live).
Dawson County at North Hall — North Hall has already won the Region 6-3A title but can't afford a slip-up against the Tigers. Why? The playoff rankings. North Hall will be ranked in the top eight when they seed the playoffs in two weeks, and a win could move them up for sure. Dawson County has to win and needs some help from others to get into the playoffs. This could be a typical North Hall-Dawson County game, or it could be a North Hall blowout. The game can be heard live on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live).
