An investigation into a suspicious package has led to road closures around the United States Courthouse in Gainesville Monday afternoon.

A release from Courts Coordinator Susan Ray said the Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating the package and has closed portions of Green Street and Spring Street.

"The main courthouse and annex are not in danger, and court operations inside the buildings are normal," Ray said. "However, visitors are not currently able to enter the Courthouse Parking deck from the main-level Spring Street entrance and must find alternative parking."

Ray added that both parking deck exits remain open and court employees are still able to enter the courthouse at the ground floor employee gate.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

The U.S. Courthouse in downtown Gainesville was cleared out on Monday Oct. 28, 2024 for a "suspicious package" arriving.
