A single-vehicle wreck in Habersham County Friday afternoon left one driver with serious injuries.
Habersham County officials report that the driver of a Jeep SUV went off of Ben T. Huiet Highway and struck a tree just before Ga. 255.
The wreck occurred at around 5:30 p.m. in the Sautee community of the county and impacted traffic for about an hour while emergency crews worked to free the trapped driver.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and units from Habersham Emergency Services found the vehicle upright in a field off the highway with the driver trapped.
A medical helicopter could not fly due to weather, so the driver was transported by EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.
The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is investigating details about the wreck.
Ben T. Huiet Highway reopened at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
