Forsyth County opened its new Fire Station 15 on Wednesday with a hose uncoupling ceremony.

The facility cost roughly $7-million and moved from State Route 20 to Trammel Road.

“The original Station 15 was never meant to be a long-lasting station but a temporary relief to the demand of the time,” said Fire Chief Barry Head at the ceremony. “The department having this new station serves the same mission as the original back in 1998 — saving those precious seconds in responding to the call and listening to the demands of the time.”

The replacement station was funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) dollars and impact fees and features a 12,500-sq ft., four-bay station.

The original Fire Station 15 was built in 1998.
Forsyth County officials gathered on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for a house uncoupling ceremony to celebrate the replacement Fire Station 15's opening.
