Victim of Banks County shooting identified

The Banks County Sheriff's Office said the body of Louise Lewallen, 91, of Lula, was found by law enforcement officers on Sunday.

Update published 3:00 p.m. Tuesday:

Authorities have now identified a suspect being charged with murder in connection to Sunday's fatal shooting in Banks County.

Banks County Sheriff's Office officials confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Wesley Lamar Lewallen is facing charges of felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault.

The Sheriff's Office said Monday that a woman was found shot and killed at a home on Moccasin Gap Road in Lula Sunday.

The case remains under investigation.

Banks County Sheriff's Office is reporting a fatal shooting incident at a residential structure Sunday.

A post on the Banks County Sheriff's Facebook page reports their officers responded to a home along Moccasin Gap Road in Lula on Sunday for a call of an isolated incident, to arrive on site and discover an unidentified female who had died from a gunshot wound.

Police say a person of interest has been taken into custody. Further details were not released as of this morning, as the Banks County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation.
