A wreck on Ga. 17 Tuesday morning resulted in a death.

Habersham County officials report that it was a two-vehicle collision on Ga. 17 near Apache Way just before 7:30 a.m.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that a Dodge Ram was traveling on Ga. 17 and a Ford F-150 was traveling in the other direction.

21-year-old Ethan Carlson of Blackshear was driving the Dodge and failed to maintain his lane before over-correcting and getting in the way of the Ford.

The left rear bed of the Dodge struck the left front end of the Ford. The Dodge traveled down an embankment before hitting several trees. The Ford came to a rest on the shoulder of Ga. 17.

Habersham County officials said that of the three people involved, two were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville with injuries, where one succumbed to their injuries.

Ethan Carlson had a passenger, 21-year-old Josie Carlson of Blackshear and the driver of the Ford was 54-year-old David Mills of Cornelia.

Ga. 17 was closed between Blue Creek Road and Preacher Campbell Road for more than three hours.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) and the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team are investigating.
