Auburn man charged with murder, identity theft in Lawrenceville homicide investigation

An Auburn man was arrested  in connection to the murder and theft and financial crimes against a Lawrenceville man. 

The Gwinnett County Police Department reported officers were called to Mount Vernon Drive in Lawrenceville for a welfare check for Robert Terry, 60, on Oct. 29 after he had not been heard from for several weeks. When officers arrived, they discovered Terry dead inside his home. 

An autopsy was conducted on Oct. 30, which ruled Terry’s death a homicide. 

After discovering Terry’s body investigators learned one of his vehicles had been captured on traffic cameras driving around Gwinnett County. Additionally, money was missing from one of his financial institutions along with several important documents from his home, authorities said in a release. 

Authorities were able to obtain footage of Marquis Green, 27, allegedly withdrawing thousands of dollars from Terry’s accounts and driving his missing vehicle. 

Green was arrested at a Duluth restaurant on Nov. 14.  He remains in the Gwinnett County Jail on several charges, including  felony murder, robbery by intimidation, aggravated assault, financial transaction card fraud, concealing the death of another, identity theft, computer forgery, theft by taking and aggravated cruelty to animals. 

The investigation into the incident  is ongoing.
