The Towns County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects after deputies allegedly discovered a trafficking amount of methamphetamine and other illegal substances during a Wednesday traffic stop.
The department said in a Facebook Post Thursday deputies conducted a traffic stop on Dec.4 at Bugscuffle Road on Hwy. 76E after a week-long investigation into the case. During the stop, probable cause was developed, and deputies discovered the methamphetamine along with Opioid and Fentanyl and an amount of cash.
Cody Michael Crane, 37, of Hiawassee and Charles Edwin Robinson, 62, of Hayesville, NC were both arrested in the case.
TCSO said Crane was previously arrested on Nov. 7 for Possession of Drug related Objects and was released the following day on a $1,000 bond. In this case, he faces the following charges:
- Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
- Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Taillight/Tag Light Violation
Meanwhile, Robinson was charged with:
• Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
• Felony Tampering with Evidence
• Felony Failure to Appear
• Fleeing and Eluding
Robinson’s charge for Failure to Appear is related to an August 2020 drug arrest, according to the post.
Both suspects are being held without bond in the Towns County Detention Center.
