A detached barn was completely destroyed in a Banks county fire Thursday night.

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services were called to Beaver Creek Drv. in Commerce just before 7:30 p.m. to discover the structure was fully involved in flames.  A nearby three car garage attached to a two story home was also partially involved with flames.

While the barn was declared a total loss, all animals inside were saved. The garage was heavily damaged, but the residence only sustained minor heat damage. No injuries were reported.

The Banks County Fire Department is investigating the cause, however, a release from Fire Chief Steve Nichols said the fire is believed to have been accidental.

The resident was home at the time of the incident, and the fire was extinguished just after 10 p.m.
