Commerce jumped in the 2025 coaching carousel on Tuesday.

Mark Hollars, who led the Tigers to a 31-16 record in four seasons as head coach, was informed by the administration that the school wanted to go in a “different direction” Tuesday afternoon.

“I respect their decision,” Hollars said Tuesday night by phone. “I have enjoyed my time at Commerce and love this community.”

Hollars led the Tigers to four straight playoff berths — two first-round, one second-round and one quarterfinal — and a region title in 2023. The region title broke a four-year drought. It also broke Rabun County’s nine-straight region title streak.

In 2024, the Tigers fought off injuries to finish second in the region standings, with an 8-4 overall record and a second-round playoff berth. The Tigers were ousted by Toombs County, who will play for the Class A state championship next week.

In the last two seasons, the Tigers were 19-6, with five losses coming against teams with 10 or more wins.
