Officials for the City of Gainesville are preparing their residents for what will will be unavaiable during the upcoming holiday week.
The City of Gainesville will observe the Christmas holiday Tuesday (Christmas Eve), December 24 and Wednesday (Christmas Day), December. 25, resulting in unavailability of the following facilities and services:
All administrative offices, including those at the:
- Gainesville Administration Building
- Gainesville Community and Economic Development Building
- Gainesville Public Safety Complex (Gainesville Police Department + Gainesville Fire Department)
- Gainesville Water Resources Building (Queen City Parkway)
- Gainesville Civic Center (Gainesville Parks & Recreation), etc. (Frances Meadows Aquatics & Fitness Center will be closed)
Gainesville-Hall County Community Center, including:
- Meals on Wheels
- Senior Life Center
- Fingerprinting services
Transportation, including:
- WEGO
Garbage and Recycling:
- No garbage or recycling will be picked up Tuesday (Christmas Eve), Dec. 24-Wednesday (Christmas Day), Dec. 25. Tuesday and Wednesday customers should put their garbage and recycling curbside by no later than 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, for collection. Thursday customers should put their garbage and recycling curbside by no later than 6:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, for collection.
