Hall County residents will get to discard their live Christmas trees free of charge until Jan. 6.
That’s a part of the Hall County’s “Bring One for the Chipper” program.
“This initiative not only serves as a way to turn discarded Christmas trees into a great resource for county residents, but it also keeps the trees from taking up valuable space at the Hall County Landfill,” Hall County Resource Recovery Supervisor Bobby Purdum said.
All 12 of Hall County’s compactor sites and the recycling center will accept live trees.
All trees must be live and undecorated when dropped off.
The live trees will be recycled into mulch, which is available free of charge to residents of Hall County.
Free mulch can be picked up from the Hall County Landfill at 1700 Oakbrook Dr. in Gainesville Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
“If you don’t have a tree to recycle, chances are you have collected more than a few cardboard boxes this holiday season, so we also want to remind our citizens to recycle those at any of our 12 compactor sites or the recycling center,” Purdum said.
