A local Hall County man was arrested Wednesday after a dispute between two parties led to a vehicle search and subsequent drug bust.

Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff's Office responded Wednesday morning to a call of a dispute in progress in the 2000 block of Crow Road, according to authorities.

The resident of that home, a 35-year-old male, had reportedly gone to a neighbor's house, claiming that another party in the dispute was trying to harm him.

Deputies found the other party, Steven Keith Murphy, 37, of Gainesville, outside the residence of the 35-year-old man. Murphy was taken into custody and authorities received consent to search his vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, deputies discovered approximately 28 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, eight Xanax pills and less than one ounce of marijuana, officials said Friday.

Murphy was arrested on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV drug, both of which are felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

He remains in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Friday morning.
