Monday could be a a key day for playoff positioning as several regions will open, or finish, key series around northeast Georgia.

Region 8-4A could begin to see some separation as the top four teams in each subregion will open key three-game series.

In the North subregion, No. 2-ranked Cherokee Bluff (15-2, 3-0 Region 8-4A North) opens a series at home with sixth-ranked East Forsyth (12-5, 3-3 Region 8-4A North). The Bears have won six straight while the Broncos, who sit fourth, are coming off a loss to Chestatee, though they took a 2-1 series win over the War Eagles.

And Chestatee (11-8, 4-2 Region 8-4A North) begins a three-game series with arch-rival and fifth-ranked North Hall (7-10, 2-1 Region 8-4A North) at the Lynn Cottrell Complex in a battle for second place in the subregion.

In the South subregion, No. 10 North Oconee (12-5, 3-0 Region 8-4A North) opens a series with Seckinger (10-8, 6-0 Region 8-4A North) on Tuesday in a battle for first place in the subregion. Walnut Grove (10-7, 0-3 Region 8-4A North) and Madison County (6-12, 3-3 Region 8-4A North) also begin a series on Tuesday.

Region 8-6A is shaping up as a barn-burner with three teams -- No. 7 Habersham Central, North Forsyth, and Apalachee -- all within one game of first place atop the standings after the first two weeks of region play. North Forsyth (12-6, 6-1 Region 8-6A) travels to take on Habersham Central (13-3, 5-2 Region 8-6A) to resume their series. Apalachee (9-9, 5-1 Region 8-6A) opens a series with Jackson County (6-11, 2-4 Region 8-6A) in Bethlehem.

In Region 8-5A, Flowery Branch (7-9, 4-3 Region 8-5A) will get another crack at Loganville (10-9, 5-0 Region 8-5A) at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex while Jefferson (10-9, 6-1 Region 8-5A) travels to Winder-Barrow (4-13, 2-3 Region 8-5A).
