GAINESVILLE, Ga. — North Hall wrestling coach Mason Patton resigned on Thursday to take another job after two seasons leading the Trojans.
North Hall assistant coach Josh Montesinos was named the program's newest head coach.
"Coach Montesinos has been instrumental in our room for the past two seasons. His work ethic and passion are contagious, and today is a day for the North Hall wrestling community to celebrate," North Hall athletics director Sam Borg said in a press release.
With Patton and Montesinos the past two seasons, North Hall finished as state runners-up in both the Class 4A State Duals and Class 4A Traditionals. They also won the Hall County Duals in December. Montesinos spent 12 years at North Forsyth before joining the Trojans staff two years ago.
Coach Patton is headed to Lanier to take over the Longhorns program.
"We're thankful for the two years that Patton spent with our program," Borg said.
Like the rest of the state, North Hall will be getting ready for new classifications and new regions beginning in the Fall of 2024. The Trojans will be moving down to Class 3A in Region 6 along with fellow northeast Georgia programs Chestatee, Dawson County, Johnson, Lumpkin County, and White County.
Lumpkin County won the Class 3A State Duals title this past season.
