The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a child at a local library.

Deputies reportedly responded to the Post Road Library in Cumming Tuesday at around 3 p.m. after the mother of the victim reported to the library supervisor that another patron had witnessed a man inappropriately touch her pre-teen child while they were looking at books in the library’s children section.

The Library Supervisor reportedly worked with detectives to use video footage to identify the man and the car he was driving. An initial investigation revealed the suspect as Akshay Kumar Singh, 29.

Singh was located and arrested within three and a half hours without incident and charged with Child Molestation and Sexual Battery against a Child.

“Without the quick actions of the library supervisor and the witness to the crime, this predator may not have been identified  and taken into custody within 3.5 hours,” Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a statement. “It is partnerships like these that keep our children and our citizens safe. This type of crime is not tolerated by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office or the citizens of Forsyth County. We are working closely with our District Attorney’s office to see this offender held accountable for his actions and appreciate their immediate action as well.”
