The Hall County Sheriff’s Office warned residents about scam callers posing as Capt. Greg Cochran to get money out of the victim.
A Facebook post from the sheriff’s office said the scammer will tell the citizen they have a warrant for failure to appear and then will tell the citizen to pay over $5,000 or go to jail.
The sheriff’s office reminded residents they do not call anyone for warrants, a deputy will find the person and serve the warrant. They will never demand money over the phone and fines are paid in court.
Those who may get this scam call are advised to hang up and block the number.
