The price for unleaded regular gasoline continues to follow the trend for summer temperatures in Georgia--climbing higher each week into July.

The Georgia gas price average increased at the pumps compared to a week ago, according to the latest details from AAA of Georgia. Commuters are paying an average price of $3.39 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.  Monday's state average is 7 cents more than a week ago,10 cents more than a month ago, and 11 cents more than this time last year.

Montrae Waiters, AAA  spokeswoman says, At present, much like the unpredictable nature of the wind itself, we can anticipate possible fluctuations with prices at the pumps slightly climbing upwards. However, as we steer closer towards August and the height of the hurricane season, there is a threat that gas prices could swell momentarily if a turbulent storm were to strike in an unfortunate location.”

Drivers in Hall County are seeing their average price mirroring that of the statewide average, as of Monday, at around $3.39 per gallon.  The lowest average price for unleaded regular gas in northeast Georgia can be found in Towns County, at $3.20 per gallon, with the highest average price in the area found in Oconee County, just below $3.49 per gallon.

Nationally, the cost of gas is up about two cents from last week, at $3.52 per gallon.  A link to find the cost of gasoline near you can be found, here.
