A Gainesville woman was arrested in relation to the theft of a pit bull valued at over $1,500 that was reported stolen from a home on Blackjack Road in Hall County.

The owner of the dog reported the theft to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office on July 14. A preliminary investigation determined the suspect, Robin Pierce South, 61, was a former resident of the home on Blackjack Road, and had initially returned to the location to retrieve her cat that had been left behind. After South had left the residence with her cat, the occupants of the home could not locate the dog.

The deputy obtained an arrest warrant for felony theft by taking.

South was arrested Monday night when a deputy spotted her at a fast food restaurant on Spout Springs Road.

She remained in the Hall County Jail with a $1,300 bond.
