The Flowery Branch City Council approved the authorization of a Change Order at their City Council Meeting on Thursday.
The Change Order is for various road improvements across a 2.2 mile stretch in the city for the amount of approximately $590,590.73.
The original contract amount which was awarded to Baldwin Paving was $1,645,269.00 but since the Change Order was approved the revised cost comes out to approximately $2,235,859.73.
Roadways that will be affected are the following:
- Lazy Hammock Way
- Blue Heron Way
- Newberry Point
- Flowery Branch Bay Park Road
- A small portion of Flagstone Way
- Railroad Avenue which includes resurfacing between West Chestnut Street and Main Street and also includes the paving of the existing gravel parking lot between Railroad Ave and the railroad tracks.
An area from the original contract that was removed in the Change Order is a section of Thurmon Tanner Pkwy that was owned/maintained by Hall County.
This portion was originally included as part of a potential long term paving arrangement that the County would engage the contractor for the purpose of resurfacing their roads.
The document states that “after discussions with the County, this arrangement will not be pursued and this area will be removed from the project scope.”
Due to the Change Order being approved, an additional 30 days will be added to the road paving scope.
