CLEVELAND, Ga. – After a lengthy weather delay midway through the second quarter slowed things down, Rabun County won a shootout over White County Friday night, 40-27.
The two teams put up big play after big play, starting with Ty Truelove's 7-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring just before Tripp Nix rushed in from 21 yards out to tie the game just two minutes later.
From there, the Wildcats started to seize momentum, socing on back-to-back passing scores from Truelove before the end of the first quarter.
Nix tried to claw the Warriors back with a 3-yard scamper for a touchdown, but Truelove responded right back with a 64-yard sprint to push the lead back out to 28-14. Truelove got another rushing score just before halftime to take a 34-21 lead into the break.
Truelove threw one more passing score midway through the third quarter, this time to Jake Payne for 65 yards to take a 40-21 lead before the Warriors scored late in the fourth to get to the final score.
The Wildcats will head over to Fannin County next week, while the Warriors will have a week off before taking on Habersham Central.
