It may not be election season quite yet, but one official in Habersham County has already won their seat.

Board of Education District 4 candidate Darlene Hudson qualified for the special election for Habersham County earlier this month to fill Kristie Dover’s remaining term.

The remainder of Dover’s term runs through Dec. 31, 2026 and Hudson has been the appointee since Dover’s resignation.

Hudson won by way of running unopposed.

“The above unopposed candidate shall be deemed to have voted for herself,” Habersham County Election Supervisor Laurel Ellison said in a press release.

The “win” for Hudson came on Friday. The election was originally scheduled for Nov. 5.
