In the wake of the deadly Apalachee High School shooting in Barrow County last week, Hall County is investigating more threats to schools in the area.

Three of the investigations involve threats made while one involves a weapon on school property.

At North Hall Middle School (NHMS), a 7th-grade girl is being investigated after the 12-year-old allegedly threatened to shoot students and teachers at NHMS and North Hall High School (NHHS).

The threats were reportedly made on a school bus on Monday.

She was charged as a juvenile with felony terroristic threats and was released to the custody of her parents from juvenile intake.

At Cherokee Bluff Middle School, an 11-year-old male student allegedly made verbal threats to classmates on Tuesday.

The threats reportedly referenced the 6th-grader bringing a gun to school grounds so he could “shoot up the school” so he would not have to get up early to go to class.

He was also charged as a juvenile with felony terroristic threats and released to his parents from juvenile intake.

A 10-year-old male student at Chicopee Woods Elementary School reportedly said he would “shoot up the school” on Tuesday.

He allegedly said the shooting would take place on Wednesday.

The District Attorney’s Office was contacted about the incident but decided not to press charges due to his age.

A 14-year-old male student at Chestatee High School (CHS) was being searched for suspicion of drug possession on Tuesday.

School administrators reportedly found a knife with a 4-inch blade.

The knife was turned over to the CHS School Resource Officer (SRO) and taken to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office headquarters.

HCSO reports that the student did not threaten anyone with the knife and that no drugs were found.

The student was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) in Gainesville on a felony charge of possession of a weapon on school grounds.

HCSO reminds everyone that their office takes all threats relating to school violence seriously and will take any legal action against anyone who violates school safety.
