The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved the fiscal-year 2025 budget and set the millage rate at a meeting on Monday.

The millage rate was set at 6.948 mills in incorporated Jackson County and 5.571 mills for unincorporated areas.

The 2024 millage rate features a figure below the rollback rate, with a rollback reduction of 0.8 mills for incorporated and 0.6 mills for unincorporated.

According to the agenda packet from the meeting, this is partially due to the anticipated growth in the county and overall increase of the tax digest.

Some other features included:

The anticipated tax decrease is 5.39-percent for incorporated areas and 3.45-percent for unincorporated areas.

The fiscal year for Jackson County runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of each year.
