Forsyth County's Commissioners are aiming to bring more awareness to Childhood Cancer Awareness Week.

Commissioners made a declaration during Thursday's meeting that this coming Monday through Friday will be Childhood Cancer Awareness Week in Forsyth County.

Their goal is to urge all Forsyth residents to learn about the deadly effects of the disease, support those affected by it, and to participate in promotional events to fight its spread.

Forsyth officials add that, according to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, an estimated 15-thousand-700 children are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. each year.
