A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for North Georgia as of 7:00 this morning (Friday, January 10, 2025). Winter Storm Cora has entered the western part of Georgia early this morning, and is expected to bring a variety of precipitation to the northeast portion of the state, before late morning hours.
National Weather Serivce reports indicate that the 1-3 inches are expected in the area, with ice accumulations anticpated to reach as much as 0.10 inches or more in higher elevations of the mountains. Residents are advised to avoid travelling outside in the area as the precipitation begins. The storm is expected to last through the late evening hours
GDOT officials have already begun to treat many state routes and highways, to limit the amount of accumulation but public safety officials are advising residents that clear roads do not always mean safe roads for passage.
