A residential fire occurred at around 4:30 p.m. Friday on Memorial Park Drive and caused a pet dog to lose consciousness according to officials.

Hall County Fire Rescue reports that first responders found heavy fire in the back of the home and heavy, black smoke coming out of the roof.

Crews began to extinguish the fire, knocking down the bulk of it quickly.

All of the occupants were accounted for, except for the pet dog.

The dog was saved from the home and was not breathing when it was found.

The pet was resuscitated by personnel and was “alert and responding” when crews left the scene.

The cause is unknown and is under investigation by the Hall County fire Marshal’s Office.
