Girls basketball: Curry leads EHall past rival Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The East Hall girls won their second game in as many days on Saturday, rolling past arch-rival Gainesville, 55-38, at Davis-Hill Gymnasium.

The Lady Vikings (10-8, 2-3 Region 8-3A) jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first quarter but Gainesville (11-7, 4-3 Region 7-5A) used a 13-5 second quarter to tie the game at 21 by halftime. But East Hall exploded 22 points in the third quarter and defensively the Lady Vikings held the Lady Red Elephants to just 16 total second half points.

Kaylana Curry poured in 17 points to lead East Hall. Haley Barton added 11 points, Terriah Watkins 9 points, and Nana Harrison had 8 points for the Lady Vikings.

Jaucelyn Smith led Gainesville with 15 points. Brannen Shiloh added 10 points for the Lady Red Elephants.

East Hall is off until traveling to Oconee County next Friday in a crucial Region 8-3A showdown.

The loss for Gainesville snapped its two-game win streak. The Lady Red Elephants will travel to Chattahoochee on Tuesday in Region 7-5A play.
