The Flowery Branch City Council approved considering a conditional use permit for a microbrewery at 5205 Railroad Avenue.

Speaking at the council meeting Thursday night, Bangarang Brews Co-owners Adam Fiddler and Josh Roberts said they have received an outpouring of support to open a family-friendly brewery.

“We want to have comfortable seating. We pivoted our plan to be more of a brewpub so that we could offer food,” Roberts said. “We learned from the community that everybody wants to eat. Not everybody loves beer as much as we do. So they want to have other drinks, cocktails, nonalcoholic options and beverages for children.”

Fiddler said their journey started two years ago when they pitched the idea for the brewery to a Flowery Branch Facebook group and they received hundreds of responses.

“We took all of that feedback, and for the past two years, we have been designing a business plan to fit those desires and needs and just doing everything in our power to just make sure that we are going to do something that is successful and something that the people want,” Fiddler said.

Fiddler is the duo's brewer and he has built connections with fellow brewers throughout his career. Roberts said they have been working with their landlord Kevin Hobgood on the plan for Bangarang.

“We have a very feasible business plan that we have worked really hard on. I would not do this if I did not watch Adam turn into the best brewer that I know. He's been working on this for a decade,” Roberts said. “He has got a ton of brewery friends that are here, that have been professional brewers that have helped him, that have a network of mentors, both on the business and the brewing side, that really can help us.”

The council will make a final vote on the approval of the CUP at their Feb. 20 meeting
