MOUNT AIRY, Ga. — Gainesville opened its season with a thrilling 4-3 win over Habersham Central on Tuesday.
The win for the Red Elephants (1-0) avenged a pair of losses to the Raiders (0-1) in 2024 when both were the old Region 8-6A. Habersham won the region title in 2024.
For Gainesville, Danny Galaviz recorded a brace while Gabriel Ixcoy and Abraham Vazquez each found the net once. Christian Perez had one assist for the Red Elephants.
Gainesville next will have its home-opener on Friday against North Forsyth.
