Hall County top-10 in the state for GDP growth, study says

In a recent study by SmartAsset, Hall County came in at number eight for most Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in the state of Georgia for 2024.

The data showed Hall County having a $1,123 GDP growth compared to $361 for the state average.

The study looked at the increase in the value of goods and services produced in the county over a one-year timespan.

Gwinnett County came in at number two with $6,081 in GDP growth and Forsyth County was ranked sixth at $1,742.

Every county in the top-10 is in the Atlanta-metro except for number five Chatham County and number 10 Muscogee County.

Hall County also came in at number 15 for new building permits, which was 22.27 per 1,000 homes; 41st in business growth which was above the state average of 7.9-percent at 12.7-percent; and 17th in incoming investments.

Dawson County came in third in business growth and second in incoming investments.

Other counties in the top-10 for incoming investments were Jackson County at three, Barrow County at seven, and Forsyth County at eight.

The last category, new building permits, saw four area counties in the top-10.

Jackson County was ranked first with 62.07 new building permits per 1,000 homes, with Dawson County second at 54.63, Barrow County in sixth with 29.84, and Forsyth County in 10th with 23.89. 

All of those factors went into SmartAsset’s GDP Growth Index, which Hall County finished in eighth.
