A Jefferson Police Officer was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) over disclosure of information.
The GBI reports that Jefferson Police Department (JPD) Sergeant 58-year-old Reginald Lee New of Jefferson disclosed information from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) system to an unauthorized person.
The JPD requested the GBI to investigate the disclosure of information to a city official who did not have authority to access the protected information.
New was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Jackson County Jail.
No further details have been released at this time.
