Fires kept Habersham County safety officials busy over the past weekend.

Officials says Habersham's fire and emergency crews responded to a woods and grass fire along the 1100 block of John Wood Road in Clarkesville's Hollywood community Sunday afternoon at around 2:00 p.m., which grew to about 3.5 acres of burnt brush before being fully contained. No injuries were reported from that fire scene.

Minutes later, another fire was reported to county personnel at  the 3900 block of Mud Creek Road outside Cornelia for a fire near a home and was quickly doused by Habersham County and City of Baldwin fire safety officials, only to receive another call at around 2:25 p.m. to assist on a call just across the county line where crews were summoned to a fire call for a structure fire believed to be inside Baldwin on the Banks County side of the city.  Baldwin police and Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies followed the column of smoke to help locate the burning home on Whippoorwill Way inside Banks County.

Just after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, another call was received for a struture fire from a house fire along the 2900 block of Highway 115, where a fire actively was engulfing most of a mobile home.  That structure, according to Habersham officials, was declared a total loss. Crews with Habersham and other area departments assisting on that scene.

Only one person working to battle the fire reportedly needed medical treatment for possible dehydration.  The fires all remain under investigation.
