A tractor-trailer exploded for an unknown reason on Monday while traveling south on I-985 near GA 20.
The Georgia State Patrol said no one was injured in the incident, and the truck was not hauling any hazardous materials.
Gwinnett County Fire responded to extinguish the fire.
“GDOT diverted southbound traffic from I-985 onto GA 347 (Friendship Road) in Hall County. MCCD was called to assist with the investigation and TRIP was activated,” GSP officials said in an email to AccessWDUN.
The cause of the explosion has not been determined and is under investigation.
The explosion left the southbound lanes of the interstate shut down for nearly an hour.
