BUFORD, Ga. — The Buford baseball team got off to a big start to Region 8-6A play with a five-inning 11-1 win over Mountain View at Gerald McQuaig Field on Monday.
The Wolves (2-1, 1-0 Region 8-6A) scored in every inning of the contest, exploding for six runs in the 2nd inning.
Sophomore Ryan Johansen was a one-man wrecking crew for the Wolves, going 4-for-4 and wracking up 3 RBIs in the game.
Senior Luke Hopper had a solid outing on the hill for the Wolves, tossing all five innings while striking a career-high nine Bears. After giving up a solo home run in the 2nd inning, only 2 Mountain View batters reached base for the remainder of the contest.
Cannon Goldin finished the day 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, two runs scored, and one walk. Leo Garcia was 2 for 2 with a double, one walk, RBI, and one run scored, and Caleb Griffin was 2 for 3 with a double, triple, and two runs scored.
Buford will continue its 3-game series with Mountain View on the road Wednesday. First pitch set for 5:55 PM
